First day in Tokyo

We arrived in Tokyo at 6am after having a reasonable sleep on the plane. The flight time from Sydney is only 9 hours. Tokyo Narita airport is some way out to the north east, and we took a train into the city. It's great to be back in a country with such great public transport! Here's Ed waiting at the platform.

We're staying near Shinjuku station, which is apparently the worlds busiest transport hub. Ed, with his awesome navigation skills, managed to find the hotel without us knowing the exact location on our map. We left our bags and headed out to explore Shinjuku on foot. It's a very cool area, and was very quiet early on Saturday morning. There are lots of shops and restaurants which is good and we're also right near a large park.

We had our first Japanese sashimi for lunch - delicious! The dish was two types of tuna with ginger and wasabi over rice.
